Bespoke Stable and Barn Complex

Ref: EBT8

Our client, situated in the heart of the countryside, required a multi-purpose equestrian build that would suit a range of purposes while complementing the existing natural surrounds. Timber, of course, was the perfect foot forward - resilient, versatile and aesthetically ideal for a rural setting.

Client Brief

The client required a substantial stable block and barn complex - a large U-shaped building with rooms above. They wanted the building to match their existing grounds, to house plenty of horses and to be a comfortable, functional place for visitors to groom, play and reside in. They had a personal vision in mind as per how they wanted the finished build to look, so required a team that would work closely with them to meet their specific needs and ideas.

Our Solution

For this project, we were able to draw on our expertise to offer insight into the best use of space and settled on a combination build comprising traditional stables and an integrated American-style barn. We handled the planning permissions and applications, thrilling the customer with the finished result. The extra space we created has been turned into a games room and is additionally used as a much needed storage space.

The Result

This kind of mixed-use project is where we really get to add value to our customers - by utilising our experiences in the creation of highly practical, but still aesthetically pleasing spaces. This build ticked all the boxes for our client and is a great example of how we pool our resources, taking a client vision and then delivering to maximum impact, often with extra touches they hadn’t thought of.

The team’s advice on how to combine a traditional stable block with an American barn internally was inspired and works wonderfully. The roof shape gives the building more stature and impact and give us tons of storage and a games room. One of the most important aspects was their help with planning permission; The Stable Company dealt with the planning application and all the inevitable questions raised. This took all the stress out of it and it went extremely smoothly. Thank you all for your help - if we were to move house we would be on the phone to repeat the whole process!
