Wilkinson Primary School

A new, natural space for the youngsters of Wilkinson Primary School to learn in.

Ref: ED22

A new nursery classroom to adjoin to the main body of the school was required as part of Wilkinson’s re-development process, providing a new space for the younger pupils to engage in without disturbing the older pupils.

Client Brief

Wilkinson’s needed a nursery space which could house a range of facilities, expand on the school’s existing space and meet the demands of many little hands day in and day out! The new building had to be fun, exciting, spacious and work within the school’s grounds, without compromising recreational areas.

A timber build was perfect for this brief - customisable and secure, the space would prove to be fun and safe without impeding on the school’s existing features, visually and practically.

Our Solution

We created a new building which included a large group teaching area, wash room, accessible toilet facilities, kitchenette office and a break-out room - everything the teachers and pupils might need within the school day so they could enjoy their time in the classroom without worrying about heading back to the main body of the school. By further positioning the build on the edge of the playground space, the grounds could be maximised and still be enclosed to ensure the space was both enjoyable and secure.

The Result

Having the opportunity to deliver a building for education is always a pleasure, but having been through so much, this school was even more excited about the new addition than most. It was a delight to hand over the keys to this bright, functional space knowing how much use it was going to get and how many young children would benefit from it.

The large space is our favourite part. We are so pleased with the finished product.
