The base and brickwork:
Our garage buildings sit on a concrete base with two courses of bricks, supplied by your builder or groundworker. We provide the drawings.
Wall construction:
Frame constructed from 38mm x 89mm C16 structural grade timbers. Uprights positioned at not greater than 610mm centres. Frame structure complies with building regulations. Pressure treated bottom rail with damp proof membrane. Standard eaves height is set at 2.38m above finished floor level.
External cladding:
Pressure treated shiplap or featheredge cladding selected redwood pine. Guaranteed for 15 years against rot and decay. Fixed to the frame structure using 50mm galvanised ring shank nails. Cladding can be stained a shade of brown or painted.
Roof structure:
Trussed rafter type for tiled roofs. Roof trusses spaced typically at 600mm centres, at a pitch of 25 to 45 degrees. Roof structure complies with building regulations for tile, wind and snow loads. Roofs can also be gabled, hipped or half hipped, or a combination of these.
Overhang:
50mm front and rear overhang for ventilation, as standard. Mesh infill available as an option.
Roof cladding:
On the roof we can tile your building with cedar or asphalt shingles or lay pantile roof sheets. Alternatively we can prepare the roof structure in readiness for your roofer to tile:
Oak frontage:
The front of the building is supported on 145mm x 145mm English oak posts, oak beams and matching straight or curved stays. Each oak post can be supported on a staddle stone as an option.
Guttering:
Half round 112mm uPVC guttering fixed to the fascia all round the building. Rainwater down pipes sited at agreed positions in readiness for discharge from a shoe.
Interior Lining:
Garage are fully lined to eaves with 9mm exterior grade hardwood plywood, fixed to wall structure with 50mm galvanised ring shank nails. Internal corners are finished with a timber corner fillet. 12mm and 15mm plywood is available as an option.
Doors:
A wide variety of framed, braced and ledge doors are available, manufactured in our joinery workshop. We offer utility doors, double doors, interior doors and French doors.
Windows:
A wide variety of garage windows styles are available, both single and double glazed.
Room above:
Access to the loft space is provided by an external oak staircase through a single door in the gable end of the building. Access can also be provided by an internal softwood staircase between the ceiling joists.
Natural light is provided by means either central pivot loft windows or dormer windows.
The loft space can either be used as a simple storage space, or fully fitted out: insulated, dry lined and decorated, with power, heating and lighting.
